Flashy fencers

MEMBERS from Camden Fencing Club scooped more medals than any other club in the country at the weekend when they took part in the England Youth Championships, which were held in Stoke-on-Trent.
The team of 14 fencers, 13 sabre and one foil, were in magnificent form as they won a staggering eight medals, consisting of two gold’s, three silver and three bronze.
Curtis Miller and Fabio Artesi led the charge as they both won their respective under-15s boys’ competitions.
Elsewhere William Moore and Alexandra Hamilton-Holbrook both won silver in their under-11s events, while Emma Horrix also picked up a second place finish in the girls’ under-13s category. There were also bronze medals for Josh Spoor, Eucalypta Bradley and Nicolas Sabharawal.
Camden Gym Club re-opens on the week commencing September 10, with beginners’ classes for foil on Mondays and sabre on Wednesday. There is also a course run by Camden Council’s Sports Development team at the Talacre Sports Centre in Kentish Town commencing on August 13.
