Join the jolly hockey sticks at Parliament Hill’s reunion

WHAT do you remember about your school days?
Long-lost classmates, school trips, the smell of the headteacher’s office and dubious school dinners might all feature on the list.
Parliament Hill School in Gospel Oak celebrates its centenary this week, and it is inviting its former pupils to relive its 100 years of memories at a Centenary Garden Party this Saturday.
The school in Highgate Road has been through a lot over the years, from its days in the Hampstead countryside to the frequent air raids during the Blitz, when pupils had to take their exams in a cloakroom with the discharge of a burst water pipe lapping at their feet.
In more recent times, the old school has had some dramatic and award-winning new extensions made to the site, including new performing arts and technology buildings.
And in the last six months, staff and pupils have been hard at work on projects to commemorate the impressive 100-year mark.
Design technology students are currently creating four large mosaic panels, which will be permanently displayed in the performing arts entrance, while the library and history departments are chronicling the archives and photographs that illustrate the school’s legacy.
The school is asking any former pupils to get in touch and contribute by posting their memories, correspondence and suggestions at phscentenary@parliamenthill.camden.sch.uk.

*The Parliament Hill School Centenary Garden Party takes place on Saturday July 7, from 2.30pm. Tickets £5 (cream tea included). Tel: 020 7485 7077.
