Post bosses want more

NEW postal staff taking on rounds at the Kentish Town sorting office will be expected to do the same work as colleagues – but on 30-hour contracts instead of the normal 40-hour week, according to union sources.
The news follows the strike last Friday over pay and conditions.
The Communication Workers Union called a strike that saw 98 per cent of staff at Hampstead, Kentish Town and Camden Town offices fail to turn up for work.
CWU spokesman Tony Davis said: “The news that Kentish Town staff will be on different contracts means the service we provide will be threatened.”
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “Nothing is concrete for changes in Camden and nothing is confirmed. We look at proposals to improve our service continually.”

Its not only at Kentish Town delivery office that 30 hour
contracts are being brought in. Today we have beeen told that Hampstead
DO will also be employing them.What with 6% savings being forced on the
office by management a third rate service is what is being planned
