Second youth arrested

Special Investigation: Two murders and another suspected see police hunt possible revenge gang and fraudsters who know no boundaries

POLICE investigating the killing of Lee Moriarty who was beaten to death in Queen’s Crescent two weeks ago have arrested a second youth.

Yesterday (Wednesday) the policeman leading the murder inquiry said that while a number of people gave information to officers following an appeal on the two-week anniversary of the attack, many witnesses were refusing to come forward.

Moriarty, 27, died in the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead from head injuries after being beaten by a gang in Queen’s Crescent on June 10, near the Blue Sea Fish Bar.

A 17-year-old arrested last Wednesday and a 19-year-old arrested on Friday on suspicion of murder have been bailed to return to Belgravia police station on July 12 pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector John McFarlane of Belgravia serious crime department, said: “It was a warm summer’s night. There were people around and we need those people who witnessed events that preceded the attack, during the attack and immediately after the attack to come forward.”
