Hazel Blears	Of course. The whole basis of deterrent is that the threat to use it is real and understood by your enemies. Anyone who answers no to that question doesn't understand why we have nuclear weapons. Trident is not targeted at a specific threat, until such a threat emerges.

Jon Cruddas	‘Pressing the button’ isn’t part of the role of the Deputy Leadership of the Labour party, and I personally – while not a pacifist – voted against the renewal of Trident as I believe that it is inappropriate for the securitychallenges Britain faces in the future.

Peter Hain	I support nuclear disarmament – but it should be on a multilateral not a unilateral basis, which is why I voted for Trident.

Harriet Harman	We should continue to try to deter the acquisition of nuclear weapons by non-nuclear states and keep the Trident decision under review.

Alan Johnson	I did vote to replace Trident as I feel that this nuclear deterrent is the best means to safeguard our future security.
