St Pancras MP Frank Dobson cuts the ribbon toopen Rhyl School's new garden area
Secret garden is blooming great!

FOR more than 15 years a derelict piece of land in a Gospel Oak primary school was cordoned off and marked as ‘dangerous’.
But on Friday Holborn and St Pancras MP Frank Dobson cut the ribbon that leads to Rhyl School’s ‘secret garden’ – the same piece of wasteland with a £20,000 facelift.
Headteacher Christina Oki made it a priority to bring the land back into use after her appointment two years ago, and saved from the budget to make it possible.
Rhyl School is mostly made up of students from social housing without gardens. Sumayyah Mohamoud, seven, from Camden Town, said: “My favourites are the roses. It’s a quiet area so you have to talk quietly and not run around.”
