Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published:21 June 2007

Calling health services to task

AS chair of Camden’s health scrutiny committee I was very concerned to read of the tragic death of newborn baby, Riley Croft, at the Royal Free Hospital in March 2005.
The hospital has apologised unreservedly for the failures in Riley’s care. However when there is a terrible incident like this, people need to be assured that a thorough investigation has been carried out.
I have written to the chief executive of the hospital trust, asking him to set out what steps have been taken to respond to this incident.
I am pleased to say that last week the health scrutiny committee decided to conduct an investigation into the quality of maternity services across Camden. A cross-party group of committee members has volunteered to carry out this review.
