Finsbury Park Under 15s
Fab Fins snatch win

Camden and Islington Youth League
Under-15s Challenge Cup

A SPIRITED Finsbury Park side came back from the brink of defeat on Friday to seal a thrilling 3-2 victory against Hawks and win the final piece of silverware of the season.

The game looked all but over when Hawks raced into a 2-0 lead in the opening 15 minutes of the game. Nathan Flanders opened with an exquisite finish from an acute angle after Kieran Tonner out jumped Finsbury’s defence to get a vital flick on.
Minutes later Hawks doubled their lead when Yemi Buriamoh saw off the attentions of a string of defenders before firing his shot past the keeper.
Finsbury pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time when captain Diarmuid Chevalier unleashed a powerful drive from the edge of the box.
With central defender Ajet Shehu stepping up from the back, Finsbury went in search of the all-important equaliser.
And they found it in spectacular fashion when Baris Semen skipped past four defenders before setting up Gerald Lami, who stroked the ball past the Hawks’ keeper to make it 2-2. With just minutes left, Finsbury completed the comeback when a telling counter attack saw Lami scramble the ball home from close range to seal a thrilling 3-2 cup victory.
Hawks were unlucky not to force extra-time when man of the match Luke Bernard-Morgan saw his effort come back off the post with the final kick of the game.
