Torrential day, triple triumph

Acland Burghley golden gang are riders on the storm

YOUNGSTERS from Acland Burghley Secondary School were glistening with gold despite this week’s bad weather.
They beat the elements to win three out of the four trophies on offer in the Camden Schools Athletics Championships.
Despite the murky conditions at the running track in Parliament Hill fields, triumphant athletes from the Tufnell Park School were still jumping for joy after powering their way to glory in the boys’ Year 7 and Year 8 competitions.
Not content with double gold, the girls’ Acland Burghley team sealed a hat-trick of wins when they won the Year 7 contest.
Camden School for Girls won the only remaining trophy, after skipping, jumping and running their way to victory in their Year 8 event.
In an athletics extravaganza, Acland Burghley also finished in pole position on the podium in the intermediate boys’ competition in the Track and Field Championships.
Camden School for Girls added to their medal haul when they won the intermediate girls’ competition, while Parliament Hill School in Highgate Road won the girls’ junior tournament. After a gruelling day
of action, Hampstead School won the final trophy of the day when they were crowned champions in the junior boys’ division.
