Fencers shine on

SWORDSMEN Curtis Miller and Soji Aiyenuro celebrated yet more success on Sunday when they made the winners’ podium at the Bristol Cadet Sabre Competition.
Competing for Camden Fencing Club, the delighted duo showed pinpoint accuracy as they won silver and bronze medals respectively in the testing under-17s competition.
Club mate Waldo Ramsay was also in impressive form as he finished in 10th place.
Overall the Camden and Islington based club, which is based at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park, took a team of 11 fencers to the tourney.
Twin brothers Fabio and Gianfranco Artesi finished six places apart as they took 12th and 18th spot respectively, while William Moore, Nicolas Sabharwal, Alexis Friday and Josh Spoor also all did well for the club.
All nine boys achieved UK national points, enabling them to represent Great Britain in international competitions.
In the girls’ competition, Emma Horrix gained valuable national points as she finished in 14th place in her competition, while teammate Rachel Friday took 24th spot.
