Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 24 May 2007

Now is the time to decide Labour’s future

• WHETHER you agree or disagree with the politics of Tony Blair, there is no doubt that there is now a potential for real change in policies and the way that decisions are made.

Gordon Brown has already signified that he wants a new approach to politics and Labour members have an opportunity to shape the future direction of the Labour Party. Nowhere is this more apparent than the contest for the Deputy Leader.
In an era where there is cynicism about politics and the ability of party members to influence policy, we now have an opportunity to send a strong signal about what we want to see at the top of the party.
Even if you are not a current member, as long as you join before June 1 you can vote in the election and play your part.
If you have left because of Iraq or disagreements about domestic policy, make sure that the party takes the direction that you want.
Rejoin and attend one of the hustings in Camden and put the candidates on the spot about what they will do to make Camden an even better place to live in. We can build on the achievements of the past 10 years, acknowledge the mistakes and renew the party and our program of government. It is your decision – it is your choice.
RAJ CHADA
Chair of Holborn and St Pancras Labour Party
