Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 24 May 2007

Refuse to tell the truth?

• IT is now more than a month since Councillor Mike Green volunteered himself as the man in charge of Camden’s recycling, and thus the man to explain to puzzled readers exactly how rubbish is sorted for recycling.
His “how recycling works” explanation (March 29) was that rubbish is sorted by hand, but Cllr Green very carefully avoided saying where it was sorted by hand and by whom. The website Cllr Greene referred to was even more evasive.
So through your paper (April 5) I publicly challenged Cllr Green to say clearly and unambiguously where Camden's refuse is sorted by hand and by whom. At the same time I asked him to put his name to an assurance that it is not in China by prison labour.
So far Cllr Green has ducked the question and challenge. If he did not previously know where and how Camden’s rubbish is sorted, he has now had time to find out. So, will he please now tell us the answer, clearly and without any evasion.
Or is the truth so embarrassing to Camden that Cllr Green hopes that by ignoring the question, it will go away?
It won’t.
