Four-way relay victory splash

GOLDEN girls Abigail McNeil, Julia Taylor, Hayley Glassford and Jessie Baker led Anaconda Swimming Club to glory on Saturday when they won the under-15s freestyle relay at the Sit Barrett Trophy gala in Middlesex.
The triumphant team, who train with the club at the Cally Pool in Caledonian Road, were in tremendous form as they also clinched a silver medal in the their medley relay.
The under-13s girls’ team of Kathleen Bartha, Jodie Sees, Olivia Brady and Samara Williams also did well as they took second place in their medley relay.
Overall Anaconda’s talented young stars put in a series of scintillating swims as they finished first or second in 17 of the 49 events in the competition. There were impressive wins for 10-year-olds Andrew Bartha and Morgan Mockler, who touched home first in their respective 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly events.
The gold rush continued as Julia Taylor, 13, won the under-15s 100m freestyle, while Nicola Jackson, 16, took first place the open 100m breaststroke.
Elsewhere, Leo Kirby, 14, took double silver after finishing second in the under-15s 100m backstroke and the 100m butterfly.
The open boys team of Josh Wright, Hayden Thomas, Wayne Lock and Ben Hartog powered their way to a great second place finish in the 4x50m freestyle relay.
There were also second place finishes for Jodie Sees, James Boswall, Kathleen Bartha, Samara Williams, Josh Wright, Jessie Baker and Hayley Glassford.
