Wenger won't be forced into splashing the cash

Gunners manager says he'll wait for the best players available

ARSENE Wenger has again reiterated that he won’t be forced into a summer spending spree just because the Gunners have ended another season without silverware.
The cool Frenchman has previously stated he would only dip into the transfer market if the right players became available at the right price. But with the current campaign drawing to a close, Wenger believes that his team will be ready to fight for top honours next season regardless of whether or not he adds to his squad.
“The problem is that because we have had a disappointing season, everybody wants you to buy,” he said.
“I have to really think if that is needed or not because there is an element in our team that they will progress because they are young. Also, what do I need to add, if I do need to add something?
“I will do what I feel is right for the team and for the club but the situation is not always to buy. Manchester United let Ruud van Nistelrooy go, they bought only Michael Carrick and they won the Premiership.”
Wenger, who was talking to the club’s official website, Arsenal.com, added: “We will be ready to go for the title next season if we have the right mixture. We need to find a better balance in our team in some positions then we will be ready.”
Meanwhile Spanish sensation Cesc Fabregas believes that the secret to success next season lies with the Gunners midfield scoring more goals.
“We have played fantastic football, but the most important things is goals,” he said.
“I am not going to use the excuse we have been missing such a key player like Thierry Henry, or Robin van Persie, who were both in great form. That is football. You have to find other solutions. We had them, and it is not just about the strikers.
“The only midfielder who scored the goals he should have is Gilberto. We should have scored more goals from midfield as well. Hopefully we can improve on that next season.”
