Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 10 May 2007

What happened to humps promise?

• THE manifesto promise of the Lib Dem-Tory alliance in May last year was that it would install no more road humps.

Why then do I see a road hump appear in Fairhazel Gardens, at the junction with Belsize Road. What is the point of voting on the basis of a manifesto to which they do not adhere?
This particular hump is extremely dangerous because cars travelling from the Swiss Cottage roundabout into Fairhazel Gardens cross the eastbound section of Belsize Road.
The hump will mean drivers having to accelerate and immediately stop in the path of fast-moving cars approaching the roundabout in Belsize Road.
Drivers travelling along Belsize Road who see another vehicle crossing the road in front of them do not envisage that that vehicle will slam on its brakes and stop.
This is just another example of Councillor Mike Greene changing his tune now he is elected, following the attack on the school run and his previous criticism of the camera in Hampstead High Street, which it would still seem is primarily used to rake in revenue for the council.
I certainly know who I will not be voting for at the next council election because, quite simply, I do not trust him anymore.
