Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 April 2007

One in the eye for Heath developers

WE were delighted to read your recent article regarding the quashing of an order giving the Vlachos brothers permission to demolish a garden house in the Vale of Heath and replace it with a larger one (Planners humbled by judge, April 5).
It makes a pleasant change to see, for once, those with all the money not being able to get whatever they want and that money doesn’t always talk (though it does most of the time).
We congratulate the members of the Heath and Hampstead Society on their gallant victory over the council and Vlachos brothers and also urge them to keep up the good work.
The problem is that everywhere these days property developers are being given carte blanche to build houses and flats almost
anywhere by councils and the wishes of
residents are almost always disregarded completely.
Let’s hope that the Heath and Hampstead Society’s victory is just one of the many victories to follow.
