Fabregas urges Arsenal to secure fourth place

Victory against Bolton key to qualifying for Champions League

CESC Fabregas has told his Arsenal teammates to beat Bolton on Saturday and secure a qualification place in the Champions League next season so that he can start to forget all about the Gunners’ disappointing campaign.
A run of three defeats and a draw have seen Arsenal jeopardise a top four finish, and with it a place amongst Europe’s elite next season.
In perfect football timing, bogey side Bolton visit the Emirates lying just two points behind Arsene Wenger’s struggling side, albeit having played a game more, in what could prove a titanic fourth place play-off.
But the 19-year-old Spaniard believes a victory would “calm” Arsenal’s position in the table so they could turn their attentions to their next campaign.
“We have to beat Bolton on Saturday,” he said. “We have to fight for fourth place to be in Europe next season and then we can forget about this season.
“It is big because they are two points behind us and we need the points if we want to be more calm in the table. Every point will be really important for us now. Obviously there are six games to go and we will need to win nearly everything if we are to secure our place in Europe for next season. That is the target from now until the end of the season. We can not fight for anything else so it is our job to make it.
“We have to try and go out to win six games. Then I am sure we will be alright.” Fabregas told the club’s official website, Arsenal.com.
Meanwhile Wenger has revealed that he believes his side will seal the final Champions League spot by beating Bolton on home turf.
“I’m confident we will finish in the top four. Bolton had a great chance to come back at us but only managed a 1-1 draw against Everton so that keeps them a fair distance away and it’s up to us to beat them on Saturday, which I think we will.
“I am confident, in front of our own fans it is a game we will win.”
