Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 12 April 2007

We need planning inquiry

•THE verdict of the judicial review on the grant of planning permission for a house in the Vale of Health must remove the last shred of trust in the planning system in Camden (Planners humbled by judge, April 5).
Yet another entirely inappropriate application has been recommended for approval by Camden’s planning officers and their advice accepted by the elected councillors.
This is a serious matter and it is vital there is now a full inquiry into all aspects of planning administration in Camden. This should be conducted by a chairman entirely independent of the council and with no political connections.
Council staff should have no part in the inquiry other than as witnesses when called. The inquiry’s report and conclusions should be made public without prior reference to any person or body involved.
