Mahir jurors home for Easter

JURORS investigating the “explosion of violence” which led to a teenager’s murder in the heart of Camden Town are enjoying a well earned break.
The nine men and three women have been given this week off and again sworn to secrecy about the case by Old Bailey Judge Stephen Kramer, QC.
They are due back in court after the Easter holiday next week to continue their discussions.
Following a lengthy hearing, the jury panel have 32 verdicts to reach against the eight accused young men.
They deny murdering 18 year old Mahir Osman, cut down by a gang of rival Somalis in Camden High Street, opposite the tube station, in January last year.
The busy Saturday night bloodshed, watched by hundreds of passers by, was caught on CCTV camera.
Mechanical engineering student Mahir, of Taplow, Adelaide Road, Swiss Cottage, was part of a Somali group calling themselves “The Centric Boys” after an area in Primrose Hill.
Up to 40 armed assailants known as the North London Somalis, travelled from North London to launch an attack on him.
Within a minute Mahir was lying dead in the roadway. He suffered 17 knife wounds, tree of them to the back proving fatal.
Jurors have been warned that during their “holiday” they should not communicate with each other or seek any information, from the internet or otherwise, about the case.
