Owners unite to fight dog bans

A PRESSURE group has been formed in Highgate to oppose the Town Hall’s proposed dog control orders.
Highgate DOG (Dog Owners’ Group) has been launched amid concern that council plans would prevent dogs being allowed off the lead in large parts of the borough, including Waterlow Park.
Co-ordinator Avril Castellazzo, who organised a 400-signature petition against the plans, said she hoped the group would give dog owners a united voice. She added: “I hope Camden will recognise us as an effective and reasonable representative of the dog-owning community.
“We will be encouraging the formation of independent Dog Owners’ Groups in other parts of the borough, which we believe would be more suited to meeting local needs than a borough-wide organisation.”
