Camden New Journal - by DAN CARRIER

Hardware shop could rise again

REGULAR shoppers at a Highgate parade are backing a bid to re-open a popular hardware store.
The New Journal has learnt that the empty Cavours hardware store in Swain’s Lane, which closed three weeks ago, is being considered by the owners of Goodwoods, based in Junction Road.
Swain’s Lane Neighbourhood Association chairman Michael Zagor said he backed the offer and would be delighted to see Goodwoods take over the site. He said: “We would certainly welcome a store of this type. Goodwoods would be terrific and I hope the landlords will give them opportunity to set up and run a viable business.”
Goodwoods, established in the 1960s in Junction Road, has been run by the Beardmore family for 33 years.
Manager Jed Beardmore confirmed he had contacted parades owner the Earl of Listowel and asked to look at the term of re-opening Cavours.
