Sir Trevor helps Jewish Museum celebrate
its 75th year

BROADCASTER Trevor Macdonald was guest of honour at a dinner celebrating 75 years of the Jewish Museum in Camden Town.
More than 200 museum friends and donors attended the gala event, held at Mansion House in the City, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London.
Lady Wendy Levene and Ruth Levy, co-chairmen of the Museum, thanked guests for their generosity which enabled staff to successfully apply for a lottery grant of £4.2 million.
Lady Levene said: “With the money, we are realising our dream of extending the museum in Camden for it to become a world class Jewish Museum in the league of New York, Paris, Amsterdam and others.” Lady Levene and Mrs Levy also paid tribute to Prince Charles who agreed earlier this year to be patron of the Museum for its 75th anniversary – his first ever patronage of a Jewish organisation.
In a letter Prince Charles said: “One of the most urgent issues that needs to addressed today is the fostering of understanding between people of different faiths. Those who can develop such understanding will contribute so much more towards the harmonious progress of our world.”
The Museum has now launched a further fund-raising campaign to enable it to cove future running costs.
