Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 29 March 2007

Baths costs are rising

• I AM deeply concerned that the costs of the refurbishment of Kentish Town Baths seem to spiralling and are now double the amount of the scheme Labour proposed in February 2006.

All local people I’ve talked to want the Baths to be refurbished but they also want value for money. In the last six months the price tag has gone up by £2 million, the same as over two percent on this year’s council tax.
We have repeatedly asked the Tory / Lib Dem administration for proper public scrutiny of this project and none has been forthcoming. If the entire project takes four years, where’s the guarantee from the Tory/Lib Dem coalition that cost won’t rise further?
CLLR ANNA STEWART
Labour Leader of the Opposition
