Greens pushed Ken hard
• COUNCILLOR Paul Barton (Con) criticises the Green Party for supporting Ken Livingstone’s budget at the GLA (Letters, March 15).
The Mayor is reliant on the support of the two Green Assembly Members to get his annual budget through and Darren Johnson and Jenny Jones negotiated long and hard to get the greenest deal possible. Thanks to the Greens the budget passed includes:
n £8 million to make existing buildings more energy efficient
n A comprehensive green homes programme
n A £25 million Transport for London Climate Change Fund to support green technology over three years
n An extra £40 million for cycle lanes, cycle parking and cycle training over the next three years
