Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 March 2007

Money down the drain

• I AGREE with the pensioners in Bexley withholding 38p a week to fund the Olympic Games from their council tax.
But magistrates love to make an example of old age pensioners who protest at the obscene increases in council ta.
We can all legally avoid paying one tax in this country, the lottery, 25p in each pound goes to Gordon Brown and the treasury and at the same time we can all avoid funding good causes like The Dome – £800 million, Olympic Games – £15 billion if not more, Wembley stadium – £700 million. How can you call Wembley a good cause?
