Camden New Journal - CAMDEN AND ISLINGTON YOUTH LEAGUE
Published: 15 March 2007

CAMDEN & ISLINGTON YOUTH LEAGUE ROUND-UP

CUP fever gripped Market Road this week as teams in the Camden and Islington Youth League turned their attentions to the Challenge Cup.
In the under-11s division, Hampstead Hawks came from a goal down to seal a hard fought 2-1 win against Peel. Tevin Alebsiou fired Peel ahead, but two goals from Nico Lysandrides saw Hampstead battle back to seal a spot in the semi-finals. Sean Clare hit a fantastic hat-trick to earn Soccerscool a place in the final four. Jake Casey was also on target as Soccerscool ran out 4-1 winners against Somers Town.
In the under-12s cup, goals from Bradley Martin and Kyle Darroux Rose saw Hampstead book their place in the semis with a 2-1 victory over FDS.
Islington Tufnell Youth are also through after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win against Chapel. Tufnell went behind early on, but a well-taken goal from Remy Danily forced extra-time.
With the game remaining 1-1 throughout the extra period, Kaleb Sofer, Badman and Liam Magwood all scored from the spot to seal a 3-1 win for Tufnell.
The shock of the weekend came in the under-13s competition where Hampstead sealed a sensational victory over Highbury Falcons. With Falcons sitting top of the ‘A’ league and Hampstead bottom of the ‘B’ league, the Islington side were favourites to seal the win.
But cup-ties are about upsets, and Hampstead didn’t disappoint as two goals from Elliott Powell and a strike from Farouk Abdulrazaq sealed an unlikely 3-1 win.
