Fencers bag six medals in junior tourney

MEMBERS from Camden Fencing Club scooped six medals on Sunday when they returned to action in the Coventry Leon Paul Junior Series Sabre Tournament.
A dramatic final saw twins Gianfranco and Fabio Artesi battle it out in the boys’ under-13s competition. Gianfranco clinched gold, winning 10-9.
In the same age division, Jack Horrix ended the day in fifth spot, while Nicholas Sabharwal and Alexis Friday finished in sixth and ninth place respectively.
In the under-11s boys’ category, Joshua Allen won a deserved gold when he beat William Hoskings from Truro Fencing Club 10-9 in another close final.
Club mate William Moore took bronze after being beaten by Allen in the semis.
Soji Aiyenuro sealed silver in the boys’ under-15s event after losing 15-10 to Lisle Erskine- Naylor from Bedford Fencing Club.
Eucalypta Bradley added another silver medal for Camden after losing 15-9 to Verity Ridgeon in the final of the girls’ under-15s competition.
Emma Horrix finished eighth in the under-13s girls’ event.
