Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 March 2007

Cover up the statue

* ABOUT that statue outside St Mary’s in Eversholt Street (Leave statue alone,
Feb 22).

Sacristan Chris Nottage seems to have taken umbrage to Mr Burleigh’s letter about it.
Yes, some religions indulge in some graphic images, Hindus as an example.
At least these are inside their temples. Why don’t the Church of England people take the ‘calvary’ into their building?
Better still, cover it and only display the crucified body image on the Friday before Easter Sunday.
Surely, the Christian emphasis is on ‘resurrection’?
Mr AV Gopal
Tanza Road, NW3
