Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 March 2007

Recycle more

* I live on the Bourne Estate, EC1, where we have a weekly doorstep green bag recycling collection.
I easily manage to fill a bag per week, and am amazed at the number of households on the estate who simply don’t bother to leave out green bags, even if only with just a few newspapers or empty milk cartons in, which I’m they sure would have used.
Isn’t it time that Camden Council issued “on the spot” weekly fines of either £10 or £20 at the time of collection, to these irresponsible, complacent folk who don’t recycle? If so, I’m certain that within a week or two of fines, there would be abundance of green bags left out on a Monday morning.
