Legends take glory in penalty shoot-out

ARSENAL’S scheduled County Cup semi-final against Wimbledon was postponed on  Sunday.
The Gunners should be in league action again tonight (Thursday) at Chelsea and on Sunday when they host Cardiff. Arsenal will face Bristol Academy in the FA Cup semi-final.

Greater London League
Division One

Dynamo 1, Brentford 2
Northwood 3, Camden Town 2

THERE were defeats for the north London sides on Sunday, with Dynamo unable to edge past Brentford and Town narrowly missing out against Northwood. Sharon Murphy and Carol Brown scored for Town.

Division Two South
Katabella 4, Croydon 3

EWA Holdender hit a hat-trick as Kats came out on top at Parly Hill after a scrappy game against Croydon on Sunday.

Holdender’s first half strike put Kats ahead and she cancelled out a Croydon equaliser early in the second half.
Two quick goals late on saw Croydon go ahead, but Holdender completed her hat-trick before Rachel Ojelade sealed it for Kats.

Winchester League

WINCH Legends lifted the league trophy on Friday after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Hendon at Swiss Cottage.

The two sides made it to the grand final of six-week league,  organised by the Winchester Project, after semi-final wins over Newtown and Copenhagen Youth Project.
Lisa Noble led the way in the semi-final, with five goals as Hendon beat Newtown 7-0 with Tash Ademackinwa also bagging a brace.
A Chloe Commins double and a strike from Kirsten Thomson saw Winch Legends reach the final with a 3-1 win over CYP. Carianne Layton scored for the Islington side.
It ended 1-1 in normal time after Jodie Bradshaw cancelled out Commins’ opener for  Winch. Extra time still could not separate the sides, but Winch, who featured members from the original 11-a-side team that began in 1989, held their nerve in the shoot-out.
Newtown, who play in Highgate Newtown, took the fair play award on the night.

*A CHAMPIONS League boys and girls league will  run at the Winchester Project in Swiss Cottage in April on Fridays between 4.30-5.30pm. Call 020 7586 8731 for details.
