Michael’s got it wrong on Brown

WHILE I have the utmost respect for Michael Foot’s political views (Bring on big Gordon, says Labour elder Foot, Feb 7) I feel he’s being very naive in thinking things will improve once Gordon Brown is Labour leader.
Unless he ditches Blair’s policies and starts to make changes for the better it will be more of the same New Labour.
He supported Blair on Iraq and continued to make the rich, richer and the poor poorer.
It’s funny how they say they can’t afford to give councils any more money for decent housing programmes, bring pensions in line with inflation or more spending on the NHS but they can suddenly afford to send troops into Iraq.
