Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 February 2007

We’re treated with contempt

• WHAT is it about compassionate people that attracts hostility from the police? Animal defenders simply handing out leaflets are treated with contempt by the police.
Most police officers attending such protests treat animal rights activists as ‘extremists’ and ‘terrorists’, thus giving them the right to demand our name and address details. When we lawfully decline to provide this information, the police  instead write detailed descriptions of us. This must surely count as prejudice, as would such discrimination against people because of their race or religion.
