Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 February 2007

How did St Valentine’s Day start?

• APPARENTLY February is the worst month for the ‘blues’ (low spirits). Is this why we have halfway through the month, St Valentine’s Day, a bit of excitement for some, to lift the spirit, after all ‘love makes the world go round’?
How did Valentine’s Day come about, when did it first exist, and who is St Valentine, god of love, maybe?
I would welcome other people’s experience of February and St Valentine’s Day.
Is it too commercialised?
