Youngsters celebrate cup victory

Return of our weekly spotlight on a league big game

Alan Michael Browne Under-9s’
Challenge Cup

Isledon Wolves 3,
Highgate Rangers 1

YOUNGSTERS from Isledon Wolves were celebrating on Friday after coming from a goal down to beat Highgate Rangers in the cup.
With Highgate taking just five minutes to open the scoring, Wolves captain Tommy Smith led by example as he pulled the scores level.
On the stroke of half time, leading Isledon scorer Alfie Costello completed the comeback when he unleashed a powerful drive from the edge of the area.
Highgate were always going to struggle to get back into the match as Shaine Rice and Tiago Almero continued their impressive form in the heart of the Isledon defence.
With the game hanging in the balance, Costello riffled home his second of the game to seal a 3-1 victory for Wolves.
The win completes a double celebration for Wolves after they tied up a sponsorship deal with leading social housing repairs and maintenance group Mears.
The team were presented with a cheque for £1,000, which was used to buy a new kit for the boys and cover match fees throughout the season.
