Speak out on tram plans

CONTROVERSIAL plans to lay tramlines through Somers Town are due to be discussed at two events next week.
Transport for London bosses behind the scheme, called the Cross River Tram Link that will to link Peckham with King’s Cross via Waterloo, want residents to air their thoughts on a route that could run through Eversholt Street, Polygon Road, Chalton Street and Phoenix Road with 20 journeys each hour.
Somers Town ward councillors, who are against the scheme, are urging people to come forward.
Labour councillor Roger Robinson said: “We are worried about safety – the plans would run past two schools and these are small streets. We don’t think it would bring in business either.”
* The meetings are being held at the Somers Town Community Centre, Ossulton Street on Thursday February 15th between 10.30 and 2, and Friday 16th February between 6 and 8pm.
