Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 8 February 2007

Tube CCTV was watched on Xmas day

• YOUR report ‘Tube vandals: LU accused’ (January 18) is sensationalist and misleading.
Brian Coleman has incorrectly claimed that Camden Town station was manned on Christmas Day and that station staff were negligent. This is not true.
On Christmas Day, Camden Town station and all other Tube stations were closed, but CCTV systems remained active for recording purposes.
While the Tube was closed over Christmas, staff were present in line control centres to monitor essential fire and track systems.
Security checks are regularly undertaken on stations by LU staff and were carried out at Camden Town before it was opened for passengers’ use. The British Transport Police investigation into this graffiti vandal attack continues.
