Spurs see red over Cottage loss

Premiership
Fulham 1, Spurs 0

SLOPPY defending and dubious refereeing decisions cost Spurs the points in Tuesday night’s bad tempered game at Craven Cottage, writes Dan Carrier. Spurs lost to a last minute header from full back Carlos Bocanegra when he was not picked up by full back Stephen Kelly. But Spurs were left fuming after seeing centre back Michael Dawson sent off for a second yellow following a running battle with former Arsenal star Luis Boa Morte.
Minutes earlier Jermaine Jenas had been pulled down in the box in what looked like a clear cut penalty.
But despite post-match comments from head coach Martin Jol that the sending off was harsh and changed the game, Spurs had only themselves to blame.
It was a below par performance and without injured Edgar Davids and Teemu Tainio, Tottenham’s centre backs were put under constant pressure from a light weight midfield.
