Bring sheep back to Heath

A DRAFT report into the future management of Hampstead Heath has revealed a number of groundbreaking ideas to improve the Heath for users.
Sections of the report, which maps out a five-year plan for the Heath, includes ‘aspirational goals’.
They include exploring how much it would cost to heat the Lido in the winter and extend and improve the Lido café at the Grade-II listed pool.
Other ideas include changing the road lay out at Whitestone Pond so it is joined to the Heath and creates a viewing point over the city, building a pedestrian tunnel underneath Spaniards Road to link the Heath with the Heath Extension, building a bridge across West Heath Road and bringing back grazing animals –sheep or cows – to mimic the long agricultural history of the heath.
Couples could to tie the knot if plans to apply for a marriage licence for weddings and civil partnerships on West Heath Road, go ahead.
The Heath consultative committee is meeting at the end of the month to discuss the draft report.
