‘Wrong stop’ for trams roadshow

TRAFFIC planners who favour a tram link between Camden and south London have been accused of botching a public consultation exercise.
On Friday, a Transport for London team set up a walk-in roadshow in Camden High Street – not, as advertised, in front of Somerfields store, but across the road near Lloyds Bank.
Camden Town Urban Design spokesman Herman Tribelnig, who fears the trams would cause congestion, said: “They couldn’t even get that right. They have set up on a red route, on a Friday afternoon, through the rush hour.”
The proposed routes, particularly a ‘spur’ line linking Euston with the Channel Tunnel Rail Link at St Pancras, have sparked protests. Somers Town Labour councillor Roger Robinson said after the roadshow: “In Somers Town, all it will bring is danger and noise.”
A TfL spokesman said the trailer was moved to attract more inquiries. The team had spoken to more than 420 people, who were predominantly positive about the proposals.
