Camden New Journal - by RICHARD OSLEY

Longest-serving politician ‘unwell’

COUNCILLOR Roy Shaw, the longest-serving politician at the Town Hall by a country mile, is “unwell” and awaiting important tests, Camden’s Labour Party confirmed last night (Wednesday).
The 81-year-old war hero has missed several recent council meetings leading to concerns for his health among constituents and fellow councillors.
Labour leader Councillor Anna Stewart said: “He is unwell. People who know him can be rest assured that he has been looked after very well while he has been unwell. His duties as a councillor have been fully covered.”
A former soldier who operated a tank in the second world war, Cllr Shaw entered a record sixth decade as a Camden councillor last year and no other councillor in Camden’s history has matched his years of service.
He was re-elected against the tide of Labour’s landslide defeat and is held in high-regard and with great affection by both colleagues and members of opposing parties.
