Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published:11 January 2007

Hecklers are undemocratic

REGARDING your article ‘Democracy Town Hall-style captured (Jan 4).
This should be about freedom to listen and freedom for the debate to continue without constant undemocratic interruptions. I would therefore take issue with visitors who feel they can take part in the debate by speaking from the gallery.
It is the role of elected representatives to bring matters of concern from their constituents to the notice of the council. The general public always have the right to speak to their councillors in person at their surgeries.
