Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published:11 January 2007

Everybody is a somebody

I FOUND your front page headline (Death of a Nobody, December 21) deeply offensive. Inconvenient and embarrassing as it may be to the sensitivities of some, homelessness and having addiction problems doesn’t make a person a nobody.
I have known John Nicholls for a number of years. Over these years he has tried hard and honestly to address his substance misuse related problems making several attempts to lead and alcohol/drug free lifestyle.
I am glad that he and his friends found a welcome, support and comfort through King’s Cross Baptist Church.
His struggles over, I hope he finds peace now and acknowledgement of the fullness of his personhood.

Editor’s note: The headline was intended to be ironic.
